#6 So, RTO failed...now what?
A collaboration with Brian Elliot to help companies choose their next adventure and leave Return to Office in the past
Even though 2024 is a leap year and February had some extra days, the past two months have flown by unexpectedly. Before the end of April, you’ll get more The Workplace Strategist to get us back in rhythm AND celebrate the second trip around the sun for The Workplace Strategist’s brain trust, Agate. Scout’s honor. ✌🏼
First up, a very fun collaboration with friend of Agate and The Workplace Strategist, Brian Elliot!
Brian is instrumental to the future of work. He’s worked at some of the biggest names in Silicon Valley for the past two decades. In 2020, in the peak months of The Great Work From Home Experiment, he founded Future Forum, a think tank focused on guiding companies toward a digital-first future with research, methodologies, and more. In 2022, he and his team published How the Future Works: Leading Flexible Teams To Do The Best Work Of Their Lives, sharing their expertise and insight with the broader working world. Most recently (and most in sync with our collaboration), Brian published an article with MIT Sloan Management Review, Return to Office Mandates: How to Lose Your Best Performers.
My first article for The Workplace Strategist zeroed in on the type of workers needed in companies to improve the current state of work. My second article focused on the new mindset that executives must embrace to let this continuous examination and improvement of work soar.
This collaboration with Brian is not just a theoretical exploration of the Return to Office and the future of work. It's a practical discussion grounded in the real-world scenarios that companies are grappling with today. Our aim is to provide decision-makers with a broader perspective and shine a light on the opportunities that lie down the different paths available to us. Ultimately, we want companies and executives who are stuck in this doom loop and want help getting out to know that there are options.
So, which adventure will you choose?
